After a couple grueling days of rearranging furniture, shuffling boxes and moving kids rooms, my sewing room is finally functional again. The baby is finally sleeping in her own room and my son is sleeping in a "big boy" bed, which means I can sew at night in our bedroom, well at least until my husband wants to go to sleep, though him falling asleep before more is a rarity.
Two weeks before Memorial Day weekend found us taking on the above project, something that we had been procrastinating on for a while. Once we got started things went pretty quickly and I was able to start working on clothing for the new people that were headed out to our historical reenactment event with the Society for Creative Anachronisms (SCA). I ended up making about 20 pieces of clothing in about 4 days. I'm like a student cramming the night before a final exam when it comes to our events. One would think that I would learn my lesson, but I guess I'm a glutton for punishment, or as they say "No rest for the wicked". ~winks~Everything turned out well, though I was still sewing on buttons, and sewing in elastic on site, but I think that is a common thing amongst most SCA folk.
The next items on my plate are to teach my friend Cindy, one of the hosts of Creepy Kitch, how to make a corset, to work on a few things for the upcoming Labyrinth of Jareth masquerade Ball in July and then a Bridal Show in August. Not to mention the surprise project I'm working on for my friends over at Sigh Co. Graphics, plus spending time with the kids and my husband. Yup no rest for the wicked.
I'm also hoping to get some more photos up of recent commissions and some better photos of my current inventory as well, so check back soon and take care!
