Aprons abound

This week's project is aprons for the upcoming Dark Goddess Event along with a commission job for a Pirate Jacket and hopefully the time to turn out two costumes for the Victorian Alice in Wonderland Party we're going to this weekend. Ha!

Combine that with working 40 hour per week (at my IT job), spending time with the kids and then top it off with a stack of items to package up and get to the post office I'm surprised I haven't gone nuts yet.

Actually I jest, I like staying busy, I actually start to get stir crazy if I'm not doing something after a period of time. Though there are periods where I need some down time and I probably would be more balanced if I managed my time better, though having two kids under 3 makes that a bit difficult since they're so unpredictable.

But back to aprons, if all goes well, I should have at least 5 or 6 done by Friday, maybe more and then it'll be time to dig out the dress form for some photos and get them all listed, though I doubt that will be done by Halloween. Of course if I can't get to the dress form I could always use my husband, though I don't think he'd find being used to model aprons as amusing as I would.

Until next time!

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who visited my blog today via Mrs. B's 31 Days of Halloween.

Congratulations go out to I'm so Pretty who won her choice of hand wood burned box from my Etsy store.

Tonight's agenda is probably going to find me cutting out some more Halloween themed aprons and maybe a couple more felt skulls. I also have a felt vampire that is done, but I'm not quite ready to post him, I feel like there is something missing from him. One I figure that out I'll post a photo of him with his little tomb that I'm in the middle of painting. I've also got a grim reaper in the works and a couple of black cats.

I've also got a couple wedding teddy bears that I need to finish for ChristalBlu Creations now that I've excavated another bag of polyfill from the depths of the closet. More on that fun project once they're done.

Now, I think it's time for a glass of wine and a bit of relaxing before I get down to work.

Welcome traveler's

Welcome to all the visitors from Mrs. B's 31 Days of Halloween over at Confessions of a Pagan Soccer Mom.

A special thank you goes out to Mrs B for taking all the time to organize this wonderful event. It's my first year doing this and I'm having a blast so far with all the fabulous Blogs, Etsy sites, etc., that have been featured thus far.

Please feel free to poke and visit some of the fabulous people we're proud to link to as well.

My name is Colleen and I'm the owner of Wyng'd Lyon Creations. I'm one part tomboy, one part computer geek/gamer,avid reader and a fashion designer/seamstress/crafter, but most of all I'm a mom to 2 wonderful kids. When I'm not working full time at my day job at a technology company that pays the bills or spending time with my family, I'm fitting in commission jobs for Wyng'd Lyon or adding items to my Etsy store or events like the Dark Goddess Event here in San Diego.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your visit and come back soon!

Happy Halloween!

They're done!!

Well all but two of them are.

I had so much fun making these Dia De Los Muertos Skulls. I'm thinking that I'll be doing another round and maybe even make some that are larger that the 5-6" size that these are.

Now that I have a new power cord for my embroidery machine, I might even make some pillows and place mats.

Here is a group photo of all of them (except the white one, he's hiding some where in my sewing room).

I'm hoping to have them all listed on Etsy tonight.

Enjoy!

There comes a time when you just have to say "I can't do it"

I'm notorious for over committing myself. I take on too much and then end up cramming and stressing about everything until all my obligations have been met. Reminds me of studying for finals in college, you know, the cramming the night before and praying you pass.

Now that I have two kids, I've began to force myself to set limits on the number of jobs and the number of shows I can prep for at once and let me tell you, saying no can be quite liberating once you get over the fear of saying it.

Late last week I had to make one of those decisions. My friend and business associate Christal, over at ChristalBlu Creations is going to Burlycon and I was going to send up a group of items with her. After all the upcoming prep I'm doing for the Halloween season and the craft show that I'm doing in November, plus a couple commission jobs, there just weren't enough hours in the day to get to more stock.

There is always next year, which of course gives me a year to build up some more stock.

I've gotten my felt creatures listed over in my Etsy store and will be taking photos of the rest of the Dia De Los Muertos Skulls that I have done and get them listed as well.

Then after that I'm going to start working on couple Halloween costumes and make the trek out to the local pumpkin farm for some pumpkins not only for carving but also for baking. Bring on the fresh pumpkin pie, muffins, bread, etc!

I'm doing a giveaway of one of my wood burned boxes this Wednesday with Mrs. B over at Confessions of a Pagan Soccer Mom and then a guest blog spot later in the month.

Happy October!

I have to say that October is my favorite month of the year. With it comes the string of fall birthdays of most of my friends and family along with my favorite holiday, Halloween. Along with fall comes pumpkin season and I'm chomping at the it to head to my local pumpkin patch to get pumpkins for carving for the kids and a couple to cook up and make bread and pies with.

I'm also going to be doing a guest blog spot over at Confessions of a Pagan Soccer Mom's blog and participating in the 31 Days of Halloween giveaway as well. Welcome to all the travelers that have wandered here already.

I'm busily editing photos and getting the items that the photos were taken of listed over at my Etsy store so they're up for the Halloween Season. I'm also shooting to have the rest of my Dia De Los Muertos Skulls done and up too.

I'm also debating with myself on whether or not I'm going to make the kids costumes this year or if I should just save myself the hassle and buy them.

Until then, happy fall!
