Grand Opening Update

Things are coming together slowly but I still have a ton of work to do for the grand opening on September 29, 2012.

I'm slowly adding raffle items as they come in and all the other little details.

We're going to have some great music by Michael over at Drama Free Productions

Photo by Pat @ GCat Studios
One of our raffle items is going to be a custom piece of art by Cindy over at Original Cin, the very same very talented lady that did the artwork of me for the grand opening flyers. In addition to the raffle item, there will be prints of her work for sale as well.

Another item, which was so kindly donated is from Pat at GCat Studios. It's an amazing photo of the San Diego Trolley as seen below and will be matted and framed.

As I get more raffle items in, I'll post some info and a photo if I have one.

Until then have a great day!

San Diego Pagan Pride Festival

pa·gan noun
1. one of a people or community observing a polytheistic religion, as the ancient Romans and Greeks.
2. a person who is not a Christian, Jew, or Muslim.

On September 8, 2012, I had the pleasure of vending at the SD Pagan Pride Festival with my dear friend Sarah from SindaAran Glass.

Since I'm only 2 miles from Balboa Park and we had no clue how parking was going to be, we met at my place, loaded off and then headed to 7-11 for some much needed coffee and because I forgot to grind coffee beans while the kids were awake.

We got there about 7:15 am, went over and checked in and found out where we'd be set up for the day. Lack of complete ingestion of my coffee had me almost walking into an area they marked off because it was a live bee hive. Go me!

We moved the truck to the end opposite of the check-in table and started to haul our stuff over to the booth space, to which the first thing I did was spill my coffee, can you tell I was on a roll? Thankfully it was on one of the plastic tubs and not on my chair. After cleaning up my mess, we set up the pop-up and as I turned around to head back to the truck I was pleasantly surprised to see someone from the event helping unload our stuff. And people say chivalry is dead, ha!

About an hour later and with no major incidents aside from the coffee spillage we were set up.

I had never really given much thought about the pagan community and didn't realize there was even an event for it. For what I heard this was the 10th year of the event.

The event got started at 9 am and went until 5 pm and to say I have fun was an understatement. It was a great event despite me forgetting sunscreen and starting off the day spilling my coffee. The people were amazing and so very friendly and very welcoming. It made for a wonderful day with wonderful weather!

I look forward to vending again next year and even expanding to some of the other Festivals if possible.

The booth set up. I forgot my camera so I had to use my cell phone for the photo.

Grand Opening Celebration!!!!

Please join us on September 29, 2012 for the grand opening of our retail space:

Friday, September 7, 2012

This is a bit overdue, but I didn't want to spoil the surprise before the whole project was complete. A friend of mine put together a book for a dear friend that passed away of photos of many of us holding a sign that said Happy Birthday Kevin.

Shots of us doing something that Kevin would have enjoyed doing or seeing.

My photo was inspired by all the support that I had seen Kevin give his friends and family over the years in their endeavors. I know had he been here, he'd be more than overjoyed to see me opening my store and would have been another pillar of support to the foundation of Wyng'd Lyon Creations. Now that the book has been delivered, I'm sharing that photo of me in front of my store, with my two wonderful kids. Thank you Kevin for inspiring me to take the step in growing my business. I miss you, but I know your watching over us all. And big love to Kevin's parents for raising such a wonderful man!
